Robert + Katelyn || Venue at Waterstone Wedding

January 30, 2015

Robert and Katelyn have been such a pleasure to work with this year! One of the sweetest couples and so ridiculously crazy about each other that taking photos of them is almost too easy. They got married at a great new venue in Celina called the Venue at Waterstone. It is basically a huge barn out in the middle of nowhere, and it’s the perfect setting to give any wedding, large or small, an intimate feel.  Throw in some fried chicken and barbeque, and you’ve won us over instantly!

Mark + Jessica || 400 North Ervay Wedding

January 28, 2015

Mark and Jessica win the contest for “Best First Look Reaction of 2014”. Isn’t Mark’s reaction to seeing Jessica awesome! And can you blame him for reacting that way?

These two got married at St. Philopateer Coptic Orthodox Church in Richardson. This was my first Coptic Orthodox wedding to shoot, and I’ve gotta say… Shooting weddings in my socks may just be my new favorite thing! I was allowed to shoot on the altar, but only if I took my shoes off. It. Was. Liberating. After the ceremony, we headed over to 400 North Ervay  rooftop for cocktail hour, and then down to the ballroom for the reception.  It was a pretty awesome night.

Kevin and Yana live in Houston, but came all the way to Dallas to get married at First Baptist Church Dallas. Kevin’s father was the orchestra conductor at FBC Dallas for many years, and WOW… he conducted the heck out of the music at this wedding! It was like a movie soundtrack! Following the ceremony was an intimate reception at Arlington Hall. Tons of fun!

Kevin, Yana, Noah (Yana’s son) and I walked all over the Dallas Arts District getting these engagement photos! We started off at the Avanti Fountain Place and didn’t get kicked out! So that was a good start. We walked around the DMA, the Meyerson, played in the water, got some skateboarders involved. All-in-all, it was pretty awesome.

Brian + Wendy || Scottish Rite Ballroom Wedding

September 23, 2014

brian wendy scottish rite crystal ballroom dallas wedding sixfourteen photography_0033.jpg

Jessica and I were so excited to when we got the first email from Wendy about her wedding. The Westmoreland family has been one of our favorite families to work with. Anyone remember her sister, Bonnie? These are two of the sweetest girls you’ve ever met.

So, a little on Brian and Wendy… They got married at the Scottish Rite Crystal Ballroom in downtown Dallas, and it was beautiful. Events & Experiences did an amazing job with this setup! Huge balloons, a mint themed candy bar, elaborate center pieces. All of this, mixed with the ornate architecture made for a photographer’s dream.

So, quick back story on Wendy’s ‘surprised’ reaction a few rows down. At Bonnie’s (Wendy’s sister) wedding, she wore the sixpence that their mother had worn at her wedding. After the wedding, the sixpence had supposedly been lost, and not only did Wendy think it was her fault, but she wouldn’t get to wear it at her own wedding. Well, it had been found a few months prior to Wendy’s wedding, and they surprised her with it before the ceremony. So, her reaction is a mixture of excitement that she now got to wear it, and relief that she wasn’t the one that lost it!

This family is very special to us, and I am so excited to get to share these photos. Oh, and Westmoreland family… if you’re reading this… When is the barbeque?
