Andy & Nikki’s Arbor Hill Engagement Session

August 16, 2013

I met up with Andy and Nikki for a jaunt around Arbor Hills Nature Reserve in Plano and then a trip to the West End for their engagement session. They chose Arbor Hills because this is where Andy proposed to Nikki, so it was especially significant to them. So, while jaunting, I was attacked by mosquitos (which my web browser is currently telling me is misspelled due to the fact that I refuse to capitalize the word out of spite), chiggers and a tiny little vicious rock that thought it would be funny to split my toe open (which I now believe is broken as well). But who cares about all that! We got some killer images! So we headed downtown, and while shooting around the West End, we spotted the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge about 5 minutes from sundown, and decided to race over there to shoot some photos on it. We were able to get some good ones, but got kicked off by the police. Over all, the main 2 words that come to mind when I think about this shoot… Worth it!

Patrick + Jackie’s 1899 Farmhouse Vintage Outdoor Wedding

August 16, 2013

1899 farmhouse outdoor vintage wedding

Patrick and Jackie got married at 1899 Farmhouse in Princeton, and Jackie pretty much killed it with the design. Their ceremony backdrop composed of a couple of old doors, all of their centerpieces, her bouquet, flowers, the guy’s ties, the boutonnieres … all made by Jackie. The weather ended up being perfect, but my allergies had my whole face swollen up. Thank goodness Jackie is a mom though, because she doctored me up with Baby Benadryl and eyedrops and we were good to go!

It has been such an honor to work with this amazing couple and I have been stoked out of my mind to post these images. We’ve been with these guys since the beginning of their planning process, and we have had so much fun! (Check out their engagement photos here or their camping themed engagement video that we shot here). Jessica and I have really grown to love this family like crazy and we are so happy they chose us to document this time in their lives!

Bart & Maddie’s Bishop Arts Engagement Session

August 16, 2013

dallas bishop arts engagement photos

We shot these engagements at 2 of my favorite spots in Dallas; The Belmont and the Bishop Arts District. Combine that with the epicness that was Bart & Maddie, and you’ve already got a killer engagement shoot. Their personalities meshed so well with the vintage surroundings that I felt like I hardly had to do anything…

Andy + Thien’s Wichita Boathouse Wedding

August 16, 2013

wichita kansas boathouse wedding_0019.jpg

After spending an entire night packing up our house, moving everything into storage, and then getting to bed about 6am… we woke up at 9 am to go close on our house and then make the 5 hour drive from Dallas to Wichita, KS for Andy & Thien’s wedding. Technically, I should have been completely exhausted for this trip, but I was so pumped about shooting this wedding that I hardly noticed it! There was so much about this wedding to love… Andy’s reaction to seeing Thien for the first time, their awesome venue, the ‘love is in the air” theme complete with a paper airplane ceremony exit, the awesome reception decor, releasing sky lanterns at the end of the night. Too much awesome for one wedding, but these two owned it!

Jon + Ashley’s Lofty Spaces Wedding

August 16, 2013

One of the best parts of this job is the friendships we build with our clients that go past the wedding or our business. Jon + Ashley are no exception to that. They have been such a joy to work with throughout their whole wedding planning process! From the moment I met with Ashley I have been stoked about this wedding, and I was honestly kinda bummed when it was over. Lofty spaces, her short dress, his Chuck Taylors, HER Chuck Taylors… their whole vintage vibe and laid back personality was just so much fun to photograph. I mean, we were out shooting bridal party photos pre-ceremony when it started pouring raining on us and they just laughed it off! Such a cool couple! Here are some of our favorites…

Clay + Kera’s Rainy Tyler Wedding

August 11, 2013

tyler texas wedding photographer

Jess and I woke up early one rainy Saturday morning and headed to Tyler, TX to shoot Clay & Kera’s wedding. I was worried because it didn’t look like the rain would be letting up so that we could shoot outside. It poured all the way up until it was time for Clay and Kera to see each other for the first time… and then it stopped! Couldn’t have been more perfect. And if you know me, you know I am not the biggest fan of shooting when it’s super overcast, but it worked so well for these photos! My favorite thing about this day was the fact that we had SO MUCH time to shoot portraits. Clay and Kera were so cool and up for anything, and it really made for a memorable day and some awesome photos!
