Tim + Megan

Remember these two? Well they got hitched last night at the Magnolia Hotel downtown. This was seriously one of my favorite ceremony locations. The cars driving past on the street, the people on the restaurant balcony behind the stage peeking over, the bagpipe player (complete with kilt and all) and the Dallas skyline all around made for such an awesome environment. Tim and Megan decided to do the reveal and hands down, this was my favorite reveal ever! There is always such an abundance of emotion that spews from these few minutes the couple has alone, but this time seemed different. It could have been a movie scene. The bagpipes were playing in the background and I could tell Tim was holding back the tears from the moment he knew she was on her way to meet with him. And then when they did finally see each other, they both let it all out and it was just so emotional and meaningful for them! After they composed themselves, they both almost immediately turned to me and Tim said, “Thank you so much for this idea dude!”. lol. A lot of times couples can feel like I may push the reveal a little too much, but times like these are the reason why. It is sometimes hard for engaged couples to comprehend how special these moments are, but it really pays off! Oh, by the way, Megan’s bouquet was the coolest I have ever seen. It was made out of broaches and pins from her family’s past. Awesome idea! Anyways, here is a sneak from the night!

I figured I would post about this because its kinda cool. I submitted a recipe to Totally Rad from an engagement session a did a few months back, and they liked it enough to feature it on their page! Danny + Meredith

I think Danny and Meredith strategically planned for their engagement photos to be on the coldest day of the year, and their wedding to be on the hottest day of the year. During their engagements, I was freezing cold even with 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of gloves, a hoodie and a thermal shirt on, but this was the complete opposite. Even at sunset when it is normally somewhat breezy and cool, we were sweating like pigs. That didn’t keep us from getting some good pics though. This is another one of the couples I had to wait a year for their wedding to finally arrive. They got married at the Chapelle des Fleurs in Flower Mound and it was pretty awesome. I have been wanting to shoot there for a while, so it was cool (not literally) to finally get to. Danny and Meredith have been fun to photograph. And I am doing Meredith’s bridals next weekend, so you’ll be seeing more of them..well…her. Here is a sneak…

Jill’s Bridals

I have been so excited about shooting these bridals since the day Jill contacted me a long time ago. For one, Ryan Manor is where we shot them, and photos online do not do this place justice. Jessica and I had our jaws on the ground the whole time we were walking around the place. Seriously. Awesome. And Chris, the owner, is probably one of the top 3 nicest people I have ever met. So extremely accommodating and willing to help. Secondly, I knew from the second I saw Jill on Facebook that this was going to be an awesome bridal session. And every time I tried to instruct Jill on how to stand or where to look, etc, she was always 2 steps ahead of me. It was amazing! She has had to have done this before! Here is a sneak…

Richard and Myranda

Well this is going to be a shorter blog post than normal. I felt so sorry for Richard. He just had back surgery in June and this session is the most he has walked since then. He kept apologizing for having what he called a “bad attitude” during the shoot, but for having to walk with a cane in 104 degree temperature and barely being able to bend at the waist, his attitude was about 100 times better than mine would have been. Im really excited about this wedding coming up in November. They are a fun couple to be around and if this shoot was him in a “bad mood”, I can’t wait to see how these guys act when he’s feeling better. Here is a sneak…

Tim & Megan

So this may be one of my favorite engagement sessions that I have done. Tim and Megan were literally a blast to be around. I am not sure I have ever had this much fun at an engagement session. PLUS, they brought their awesome pug for some photos. I have a special place in my heart for pugs because I had one growing up. We started shooting at the Chipotle in Plano because this is where Tim and Megan not only had their first date, but it is where Tim proposed. We took some photos out in front of the building for a few minutes with Maximus before he got a little overheated and had to go home with Megan’s mom. Then we went inside for a few minutes and got some photos at their “spot”. Then we headed to Deep Ellum to finish up. One thing I love about Deep Ellum is that when I start to get tired of shooting down there, I always find new spots that make me fall back into love with it. It doesn’t hurt that it’s pretty dead down there now days so you don’t have to worry too much about people being in the photos. These guys were SUPER photogenic and you can tell that Megan is no stranger to the camera lens (I don’t know that for sure, she just acts like she’s done this many times before). Here is a sneak…

Matt + Katie

So I have to give props where props are due, and Katie and her family take the cake on awesome venue choice and amazing decor. When I arrived, her whole family was drenched in sweat from just a few hours of decorating and setting up, but it paid off because it looked great! This venue was awesome! Ceremony and reception were both outside, but there was a huge barn for people to go through to get food, cake and hang out in the air conditioning for a little while. Matt and Katie were both a lot of fun to hang out with and shoot too! Both of them were really laid back and and drama-free. They had some fun friends to hang out with too! Oh, and this is the first wedding I have shot where bridesmaids started crying as they were walking down the aisle. Couldn’t even keep it together for a few more seconds, haha! It made for some memorable pictures though. Here is a sneak…

Michael and Julia

First of all, how do you like the new website? My goal with this new layout and design was to eliminate the crazy loud background, take colors down a bit and make the photos the main point of focus. I really like the more minimalist look to everything and I think it helps center this website on what it is really about…you guys. So about Michael and Julia…let me first say that multiple outfit changes can really make an engagement session! It allows for a large variety of images and it always looks better at the end. I think these two strategically planned out to schedule their engagements on a day when there was no wind blowing whatsoever, haha. We sweated quite a bit! But it was worth it because the photos turned out pretty good. We trecked all over Chestnut Square and Downtown McKinney searching for some cool photo spots, and I think we found em. We actually stumbled upon a garden maintained by a restaurant where they grow their ingredients fresh so of course we used it to get some pics. After it was all said and done, I got home, looked down at my feet to kick off my flipflops and realized I was wearing 2 different colors and went the whole night without noticing. And it wasn’t even like the colors were close…one was white and the other was brown. Michael and Julia just figured that was me being artistic, haha. Here is a sneak…

Brad + Chelsea

So I am a little bummed about this wedding. Not because I didn’t like it..but because it is over. It was kinda like Christmas. I waited a year for it to come around all year and was so excited. When the day finally came, it was great and I had a blast..but now its over and I am bummed out. Only, this won’t roll around again in a year. I did their engagements back in January in Addison and we nearly froze to death. Then they get married in July and we nearly burn up! But seriously, Brad and Chelsea are literally so much fun to be around! They are just so laid back and relaxed, and they are up for anything! Needless to say we were able to get some great pictures. Hopefully we can work together again in the future when little jr. comes along! Here is a sneak…
