  1. Dabbling in Video…

One thing that has always intrigued me just as much as photography is videography. The main reason being that the perfect combination of video footage and music can stir up a ton of emotion. Music in a video, is like good lighting in a photograph. It completely affects the way you feel when looking at it. I have a HUGE passion for music too, so having the ability to take what I love (photos), make them move and then add music has always seemed so awesome to me. (You can only imagine my fascination with music videos, haha) Since I started shooting photos professionally, I find my self not being able to pay attention during a movie or TV show because I am constantly thinking about camera angles, focusing, camera settings, how the scene is lit, color correction, camera stabilization, etc. So I bought a decent DSLR that will shoot HD video, got some awesome video editing software, a slider, monopod, and other stuff and decided to give it a run. I’ve been slowly studying and learning different techniques in my free time, and I am really having fun with it.

This is one of my first attempts at shooting with my new stuff. Hopefully I can continue to learn and grow in this area.

  2. Derek & Cameron’s Adriatica McKinney Engagement Session

After meeting with Cameron a couple months ago, I couldn’t wait for this session. We talked, laughed and quoted Step Brothers for about 2 hours (at one point yelling, “Did we just become best friends?!?!”), and I knew we had to work together. So we met up at Adriatica in McKinney for a quick engagement shoot last week and I was honestly bummed when we were out of time. These two are hilarious. Plus, as you can tell they are a very photogenic couple. Oh, and what’s up with me photographing celebrity look-alikes lately?! Does she not look just like Malin Akerman?

  3. Cameron & Katrina’s Downtown Wylie Engagement Session

I love shooting near home. And it’s even better when you know the couple! Katrina and I have gone to church together since 7th or 8th grade so we go way back. And even though this was my first time to meet Cameron, I felt like we went way back too since he looks just like Ben Affleck. Seriously, scroll through the photos and you’ll see. Katrina’s last name is Garner too…think about it… We started in downtown Wylie, and then went over to a nearby field to finish up. Katrina had a bunch of cool ideas for us to use, and I think it made for an awesome engagement session. Check it out…

  4. Tom & April’s Delaney Vineyard Grapevine Wedding

Remember Tom & April? Well I have been stoked about this wedding for a long time! It was actually really cool how April and I got in touch with one another. When I was planning out my sister and brother-in-law’s engagement session, I called Ikea to see if it would be possible to shoot some photos inside the store for a [500] Days of Summer themed shoot. April so graciously allowed us to shoot there and then said, “By the way, I’m engaged and we’re looking for a wedding photographer too”. So we met, hit it off, and here we are! This wedding was seriously awesome. For one, the Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine is amazing! Such great photo potential there. Another thing I have to bring up is the fact that the floral arrangements were definitely the coolest I have ever photographed. Check it out…

  5. April’s Delaney Vineyard Grapevine Bridals

Here are some of April’s bridals that I finally get to share. We did them at the Delaney Vineyard in Grapevine and the weather and lighting could not have been more perfect. Doing bridals in a vineyard is a little tough because a white dress and red dirt do not mix well. So they brought a white sheet with a hole cut out for April to stand in and walk around. It made it pretty easy to stay clean actually! They also brought a cool leopard print chair that turned out really cool. Here are a few of my favorites.

  6. Josh & Angela’s Avanti Fountain Place Wedding

Josh and Angela got married a couple weekends ago at the Avanti Fountain Place downtown. It was the same night the Rangers won the ALCS, so a lot was at stake at the time. But I guess J&A’s fans are more loyal to them than they are the Rangers. I guess it didn’t hurt that there was a TV in the bar. Anyways, this wedding was a lot different than most weddings I shoot because they didn’t do most of the traditional stuff you see at weddings. They had a ceremony, and that was about as traditional as it got. The rest of the time everyone got to hang out, mingle, watch some Rangers and help themselves to food and cupcakes. Relaxed environments like this really make for enjoyable evenings. Here are some pics from the night….
